Sanchez sale could be a mistake from Barca

sanchezArsenal landed a huge marquee signing last week as Chilean attacking midfielder Alexis Sanchez put pen to paper for the Gunners after an impressive 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Many will argue his sale was necessary in order for Barca to make room for new their arrival, the insatiably enigmatic striker Luis Suarez but here at FC Barcelona News we’re not so sure.

Is another front-man in the same vein of Neymar or Messi something Barcelona really need? Hasn’t their biggest problem of late not been to break down teams who defend doggedly and who put all eleven men behind the ball? In Sanchez they had a player who was arguably the most improved player in Europe. Despite a slow start after his arrival from Udinese two years ago, last season both internationally and domestically the Chilean came on leaps and bounds. Many England fans will pin point his demolition of the Three Lions in a 2-0 Chilean friendly win over England last year as the moment that the real £30 million-rated Alexis Sanchez had finally arrived.

Whilst not stereotypically an out and out goal scorer, odds website allpro have him down as 40/1 to win next season’s Premier League golden boot. He chipped in with 19 goals for FC Barcelona last season and should he continue to improve at the same rate, an each-way bet at those odds may worth be a flutter before the Premier League season kicks off next month.
