Where are they now: Barca’s 2015 Champions League Winners

The latter stages of the 2018/19 Champions League season are well underway, and Barcelona are chasing down their first title since the summer of 2015.

With the likes of Manchester City, Juventus and Liverpool still in the competition, picking a winner is no easy task although grabbing a promotion code with 1xBet certainly helps make the decision a profitable one if made correctly.

So, what happened to the last Barcelona team to win the Champions League with victory over Juventus and are there any players still in the squad today?

Marc-André ter Stegen

Barca’s goal keeper on the night Marc-André ter Stegen shipped the equaliser in the 55th minute but saw his side come through to win the final 3-1.

Remarkably, the German was in his first season after joining from Borussia Monchengladbach but failed to make a single La Liga appearance, instead appear in all Barca’s Copa Del Rey and European games (they won both competitions).

Four-years later and the German international has established himself as the number one in the Barcelona squad.

Dani Alves

Brazilian Dani Alves was a stalwart for Barcelona playing nearly 250 La Liga games for the club.

A year after their Champions League success, Alves left the club for Juventus where he would go on to win the Coppa Italia and Serie A and then join Paris St Germain where he is today.

Gerard Pique

Defender Gerard Pique has spent most of his career with Barcelona winning literally everything there is to win.

It will be of no surprise to learn then that the 32-year-old is still an integral part of the Barca squad.

Javier Mascherano

For years Javier Mascherano played a vital role as a tough defensive midfielder/defender for the likes of River Plate, Liverpool and of course Barcelona.

After leaving the club in 2018, Mascherano followed the money to China where he still today plays for Hebei China Fortune F.C.

Jordi Alba

Left-back Jordi Alba has been an important part of the Barcelona team ever since joining from Valencia in 2012.

He is still at Barcelona today with his contract set to expire in 2020.

Ivan Rakitić

Rakitic is the man who scored after four-minutes to set Barca on their way in the 2015 final. The Croatian star is still with the club, but rumours are rife he will be leaving in the summer with Juventus and Manchester United set to swoop for the midfielder.

Sergio Busquets

Another loyal Barca star, Sergio Busquets has been at the club since 2008 with the 30-year-old showing no signs of going anywhere.

Andrés Iniesta

Think of the greatest ever captains in world football and the name Andrés Iniesta is right up there.

Over 440 La Liga appearances for Barcelona, it was a sad occasion when in 2018 Iniesta left for a new adventure with Japanese league side Vissel Kobe.

Lionel Messi

Where else would Messi be but at Barcelona?

Fifteen-years at the club and still irreplaceable Messi is Barcelona so it is no surprise to learn he is still at the club today and seemingly going nowhere.

Luis Suárez

Striker Luis Suárez would score what would prove to be the winner of the 2015 final in the 68th minute and is still a vital cog in the Barca machine today.

Neymar

Brazilian put the tie to bed in the 97th minute to make it 3-1 on the night and stayed with the club until 2017.

Fed up with being in Messi’s shadow, Neymar switched to PSG but rumours continue to surface a move to Real Madrid is what he really wants.
