Raul Albiol becomes a new target for Barca
Just days after obtaining the signature of highly rated left back Jordi Alba, it appears Barca are still on the hunt for more defensive cover as they have been today linked with signing Real Madrid’s Spanish centre back, Raul Albiol according to Portuguese newspaper Record.
The Spanish international, 26, is not a regular for club or country after playing just ten times for Los Galaticos last season and starting this week’s Euro 2012 final as a substitute and therefore as a result may welcome a fresh start at the Catalonian club.
After spending €14 million on latest acquisition Jordi Alba, FC Barcelona boss Tito Vilanova reportedly has €26 million remaining to spend on new players with a central defender the latest primary target. There is no intention to sell Albiol according to Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho although rumours suggest the Spanish defender may be allowed to leave for no less than a €15 million price tag.
