Ferrer and Barjuán back Jordi Alba transfer
Sergi Barjuán and Albert Ferrer, two defenders who have made names for themselves during their tenure at FC Barcelona have today backed the completed move of Jordi Alba to Barcelona according to Spanish newspaper Marca.
“He’s fast, good on the ball and going forward, and offers cutting edge and patience. He has the Barça hallmark. The advantage is that Jordi knows the club’s philosophy inside out. That will help him adapt. He learned his stuff at La Masía and has gone on to cut his teeth and improve his game at Valencia, where he got some great experience” commented Barjuan this morning.
The only aspect of his game that could be a hindrance is his height according to fellow ex-professional Albert Ferrer. “There is a lack of height. They will probably struggle with crosses from free-kicks and corners, because their only tall players will be the two centre-backs and Busquets, but that’s this Barcelona side’s style of play. The team spends most of its time on the attack and needs fast players who offer penetration. Having said that, if the full-backs push forward a lot, the rest will have to make sure they cover for them.”
Jordi Alba is yet to be formerly introduced to his new Barcelona team mates in a playing scenario as he prepares to yet again represent his country as Spain participate in the London 2012 Olympic games this month.
